Homecook Food - Prawn Mee or Penang Hokkien Mee

After all the Bachang (Chinese Dumpling) and Mooncakes, I have to wear from size M to Size L. I better do something about it before things go beyond repair!! So I go for 30 minutes exercise, three times a week. And the most difficult part is I am on low-carb or no-carb diet for about 60 days now and the result is I have lost 5kg......hooray! So I thought I could reward myself with something I have been craved for................Hokkien Mee. I cooked myself so I could put more liao (prawn, meat and egg) and lots of vegetable (Kangkung and taugeh) but very little meehoon (one mouthful only) and finally sprinkle with lots of fried shallots.

Even the soup is not spared................slurppp to the final drop but half of the egg yolk was left behind due to health reason.

Guess I better exercise extra 10 minutes 2moro morning and drink a shake for breakfast!!

Ong Lai (Tai Chow Stall) - Jalan Raja Laut, KL

Yesterday we supposed to have Japanese food at Zakuro in Mont Kiara but hubby had an appointment in The Pavillion with a client from Penang and they discussed pass normal dinner time and we ended up eating at this Tai Chow stall in Jalan Raja Laut called Ong Lai. And my low carb diet was disrupted with these food we eat:

Ba Kau Soup, ok with lots of MSG.
Fried Pek Kueh, I notice that they have used less oil in frying the noodle as compared to previous visits. Very tasty.

Fried Thick Meehoon, a lot of 'liao' and crunchy pork lard. Very tasty too!
Total food bill is RM30.60 plus tea for two.

Hing Ket Grill House - Kg Jawa , Klang

My father took us to this restaurant about 20 years ago. I remember we were travelling from KL to Klang and the road leading to this place was quite dark and far. Last Saturday, Hubby and I decided to eat at this place again, the children were left at home as my sons said let "daddy and mommy have some bonding bonding".

Hubby could not quite remember this place and we made a few calls to our friends in Klang for direction. Go to Taman Rasnah, turn right at the traffic light after the petrol station (Mobil/Petronas?), then go all the way straight,I think this road also go to Kota Kemuning, abit winding road till a T - junction and there is a trafffic light there, turn left and further down the Hing Ket Grill House is on your right. There is another grill house called Dung Huang next to it but we go to the original Hing Ket.

The restaurant looks different from the last time, it is brighter and cleaner. Last time they grilled in open area but now they have a small hut with good ventilation for grilling.

Parking is quite limited, at the front of the restaurant and along the road.
This grilled stingray(RM20) is very good and not very oily like the usual one we have. And they provide the dipping chili sauce go so well with the fish.

The grilled lamb(RM14) was fantastic. This is what I am here for. If not for the fish we had ordered, I would go for another order of this. The mint sauce was so tasty that I finished the whole small bowl with the lamb.
Stir fry sweet potatoes leaves(RM8) is good too and not oily. The food here is not oily even the Kam Heong Bamboo Clam (RM12) tastes so delicious.

The total food bill about RM74, inclusive of one big Carlsberg and one Lime Juice. Its worth coming back again.

A Trip To Pulau Pangkor

During the last weekend of the Raya holidays, hubby was given a 2 nights 3 days free stay with meals provided at The Pangkor Island Beach Resort for 4 pax. The last time I was in Pangkor was about 18 years ago! I went with my family and we stayed in The Pangkor Laut Beach Resort.....i still remember it was very expensive and we were only staying at the hill resort.

We left about 8.30am in the morning and reached Bidor for breakfast. I decided to try out other Bidor foods rather than the usual Pun Chun. So we went to the back lane near the market place and we found this place.
Most of the stalls almost sold out their food.....maybe it was a holiday. My son tried this curry mee(RM2.90), quite ok for me becoz I don't really like too "lemak" kind of curry mee.
But this Hong Kong Chee Cheong Fun(RM3.00) was very good. Four of us ordered 5 plates!
We reached Lumut about 12.15 pm, after check-in our luggages at the Pangkor Island Beach Resort office, we parked our car at the local town council multi level car park (RM10.00 per day). This picture was taken from the car park. This is the Water Front of Lumut.
As our ferry is scheduled at 1.45pm and we decided to go for tea at this place The Capri :
Hubby craved for beer and ice cream :
The boys go for Sandwiches....one tuna and one ham :
There are lots of cafes in Lumut besides the usual gerai makanan. There is KFC too!
And finally we reached the private jetty of the Pangkor Island Beach Resort after about 30minutes ride.
We were given 2 rooms with connecting door at the Ocean Wing.
From our balcony:
We decided to rest and relax at the Resort and enjoyed the resort facilities on the 1st day. Then the second day , we rented a car ( proton iswara @ RM120 per day...expensive bcoz its peak season, otherwise it should be about RM70) and explored the island.
First the Fu Lin Kong temple:
Then to Sg Pinang Kechil for lunch at this restaurant call Restoran Kah Lim:
Fried spinach, very yummy.
My sons' food fried calamari:
As the normal crab was sold out, we end up order this Fried soft shell crab.Curry fish, a northern type of curry on the sour side without coconut milk. I quite like it but not my hubby.

Then we went to this place selling dried salted fish and etc....:
At the back of the shop :

We bought a few things for family and friends. I dunno whether it is cheap or not but they are definite fresh.
The last stop, we went to the Dutch Fort.....biasa saja!
We spent the rest of the time relaxing at the resort with our children especially hubby who is always busy.
