My Garden

I opt for a simple garden as I know I have no time and expertise to manage it. I plant a row of bamboo trees and the philipines grass( I was told ) in my garden. I like bamboo trees, they look peaceful and calm.

I hang these flowers near the kitchen window and around my house. These flowers are easy to manage, just sunshine and water and they will give u full bloom all year round.

This plant will keep the mosquitoes away because it has a kind of mint smell or minyak angin smell!!!

I decide to plant some pandan leaves, chilies and serai in my garden soon!

Tawau - Pah Sang Bak Kut Teh

During our stay in Tawau, we went to one of the oldest Bak Kut Teh restaurant there. The owner is from West Malaysia. We were quite suprised there are many people in Tawau are actually come from West Malaysia. This Bak Kut Teh Restaurant is called Pah Sang Bak Kut Teh.

The friendly owner :

Overall the taste is good and we were suprised to find most of the customers are the local orang asli. According to owner when they first started the business there about 30 years ago, the locals did not know about Bak Kut Teh. They thought it was a kind of drink. Now even way of eating Bak Kut Teh has more varieties ie Bihun/Mee in Bak Kut Teh, just like our Laksa Soup or Clear Soup Noodles.

Tawau - Working and Eating Trip 2

Continued from my Sabindo seafood restaurant, I could not remember what was the dish below but it tasted yummy, I think it was kind of sea cucumber.

This is Tung Foong Lo, it was very fresh but the dipping sauce was not very good, luckily the seafood was fresh that no dipping sauce was required.

This was Kam Heong Crab, taste average.

This is Steamed Garoupa Fish, very fresh!

The cooking here is average so so only but luckily the seafood is fresh. The total bill was RM250plus (incl. 2 big bottle of beer) for 6 persons.

Tawau - Working and Eating Trip1

Hubby had got a job in Tawau last July and I was happy to tag along....heehee! We are sort of like husband and wife team so my presence does not damage his image. This was the hotel we stayed. Heritage Hotel (RM115 per nite) , conveniently located in downtown, walking distance to banks, supermarket and coffeeshops. The hotel room was clean and basic but the toilet was very small.

I have cousins staying in Tawau and we went for dinner after a hard day work. The seafood restaurant is in Sabindo (where sabah and Indonesia meet, I think). The seafood was very fresh but the dipping sauce was not very nice...sort of like dimsum chili sauce.

These are the fish sashimi, sabah shu cai choy and steam prawns.

to be continued.............................

I am still around

I have not been writing for quite some time because I was busy renovating my house last Dec then followed by preparation for Chinese New Year then busy reading those political blogs/news because of the Election then......then...

This was before renovation :

End result :

Our renovation was simple and basic although we spent quite alot of $$$ in it......how small the money is nowaday but we are very happy because it is our first landed detached property! This is the achievement that both my husband and I have been working ( and still are !) so hard all these years.
